Rocky Horror Sugar Show

Back in February a friend of mine suggested we asked Cake International if a few of us could have a table to celebrate 40 years of the Rocky Horror Picture Show, little did I know then how that would grow into a 9m x 6m installation at Cake International in Birmingham 2015.

Along with Marie McGrath of Marie’s Bakehouse and Laura Edwards of Mamma Jamma Cakes we co-directed forty other sugarcraft artist to successfully create a show that gave a wow and a smile to everyone that took the tour.

Thank you to Helen Waddington for this fab video of all the work involved

I’d like to say a huge thank you to each and every person who took part in this project, for their dedication, to their timely responses to all our requests and to their hard work, it certainly paid off.

Also a huge big thank you to our sponsors – Renshaws, The Cake Decorating Company and Dummies Direct – without you it may have been a very different story.

The build consisted of six area’s each 3m x 3m – the entrance, the chapel, the hallway and library, the party room, the lab and lastly the stage.  Each room had it’s own ambiance with different lighting, design and music – a meander through different elements of the film.

We are currently planning our next adventure for Cake International in Birmingham March 2016 and onto London April 2016 …. so watch this space ~ all I will say is we have a very over excited group currently designing their new pieces !!
